The video game Nabbovaldo arrives at Play - Festival del Gioco di Modena
20.05.2022

The videogame by the Ludoteca of Registro .it will be presented to the audience of the new edition of "Play - Festival del Gioco", scheduled to take place at Modena Fiere from 20 to 22 May, with the seminar "A cybersecurity school with the videogame Nabbovaldo". During the event, the objectives and tools of the workshops by the Ludoteca of Registro .it dedicated to cybersecurity will be described, with a particular focus on the videogame Nabbovaldo.

The seminar will be held by Mrs. Giorgia Bassi from the CNR Institute of Informatics and Telematics (CNR-IIT) and Mrs. Angela Franceschi, a PhD student in educational sciences and psychology at the University of Florence and a research fellow at CNR-IIT since 2020.

Visitors will be able to learn about the Ludoteca's serious game, dedicated to computer security, in the permanent poster session on Friday 20.

"Nabbovaldo and the cyber blackmail" is designed to bring children and young people between 11 and 14 years old closer to cybersecurity issues. The aim of the game, conceived as an adventure divided into chapters, is to improve knowledge, attitudes and behaviour in using the Internet, so as to encourage the good practices related to cybersecurity.

The Modena Festival is dedicated to the world of gaming, declined in all typologies, from board games to role-playing games to video games.

Gaming is a recognised tool for training and education and is used in many training courses, including in schools. Cybersecurity, especially for adolescents and pre-adolescents, is an important topic: it is necessary for young people to be well acquainted with it in order to avoid the risks of the Web and to exploit its opportunities. These two needs are combined by the video game “Nabbovaldo and the cyber blackmail”, designed and produced by the Registro .it of the CNR-IIT in Pisa, in collaboration with Symmaceo and Grifo Multimedia.
