Marco Conti is officially part of the restricted 'Artificial Intelligence National Strategy Working Group', nine Italian experts, five women and four men, tasked with setting up the national Artificial Intelligence strategy, in partnership with the Ministry for Universities and Research, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Minister for Technological Innovation and Digital Transition.

The task force will focus on updating the national Artificial Intelligence strategy and aligning it with the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). The working group will have a consulting role and will submit the strategy to the three competent ministers’ judgment.

Marco Conti is a research manager at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), director of the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR in Pisa (IIT-CNR) and head of the Registro .it. He has published more than 400 papers and five books on next-generation Internet computer networks, social networks, intelligent systems and has coordinated numerous European projects. He is the science director for the CNR first national PhD in Artificial Intelligence. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Start 4.0 and of the Scientific and Technical Committee of Artes 4.0 (national centres of expertise on Industry 4.0). In November 2017 he was included in the '2017 Highly Cited Researchers' list as one of the most cited researchers worldwide in the 'computer science' category.
