To register your domain, contact a Registrar. The Registry does not, in fact, register domains directly on behalf of end users.

When you own a domain name, it may happen that you have to make changes

How to choose your domain name

The very first thing to do when choosing a domain name is to verify through the "Whois" that the name has not already been registered by someone else. But to choose an effective name it is good to keep in mind some rules, from the shortness of the name, to the absence of accents or numbers.

Who can register a .it domain

.it domain names can be registered by anyone who is an adult and has citizenship, residence or commercial headquarters in the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), in the State of the Vatican, in the Republic of San Marino, the Swiss Confederation and in the United Kingdom.

DNS

What does DNS mean? DNS (Domain Name System) is a system that is used to associate the numerical addresses needed to surf the web (which are long and difficult to remember) to a name, and vice versa. It is on this system that the web, email and other Internet services function (e.g. www.nic.it corresponds to the numerical address 192.12.192.28).
